On Sunday Peter Hearn followed up his gong for ‘Most improved athlete from Group 1’ with a cracking run at the Brass Monkey Half Marathon in York. While some of us where having a lie-in after a night of ceilidh-dancing and maybe a drink or two, he and Joanne Lee had an early getaway to be down in York for the 10am start. According to Joanne conditions were good for running, all be it with heavy rain for the first part of the race. Both her and Peter achieved PBs and excellent placings, especially given the high quality of runners in the 1500 strong field.
Peter Hearn was 42nd overall and 2nd V50.
Gun time of 1hr 18.49 mins – new PB (chip time of 1hr 18.47 mins)
Joanne Lee, 13th woman and 2nd F40
Gun time of 1hr 26.07 mins – new PB (chip time of 1hr 26.00 mins)
Joanne says she would recommend this race for anyone who is after a fast half marathon course. It is very popular and you need to enter as soon as it opens; in fact this year the website kept crashing due to the excessively high demand. No doubt York Knavesmere Harriers will have this sorted for next year.
Joanne can be spotted in a video on the York Press website! Look out for her at around 4’50”.
