Track & Field News Update

Its been an outstanding start to the Track & Field Season with some notable performances form our teams and individuals.

North East youth Development League NEYDL

Our Junior (U13, U15, U17) athletes won the opening event at Wentworth by a huge margin. It was a tall order to follow. The second event was held at Jarrow on 22nd May. The margin was reduced but the result was the same, Tynedale won the second event and remain top of the table.

There were some great performances, the athletes had a great day and represented our club in an exemplary fashion.

If any Juniors need more information about competing in the NEYDL please ask Katy Colmer or any of the Coaches.

Northern Athletics Senior League

The Seniors are matching the Juniors for results this season. They racked up their second win, making it two out of two, of the season on the 5th June at Wentworth. It was great to see so many turn out to represent the club on the track.

If you fancy competing for the Seniors then please get in touch with Doug Maxwell or some of the Senior athletes (Darren, Lea, Katy, Megan, Steph, Gill…). U17’s can compete in the Senior League and the team are looking for a few more Ladies in particular.

Adam Pratt

Adam has had a great week reaping the rewards of some hard and dedicated training. An 800m PB (1:56.7) in Glasgow on Friday 3rd June, a 1500m PB (4:04.8) in Chester-le-Street on Monday 6th June and a 21st Place in the Blaydon Race on 9th June.

NEGP

Dan Joyce is running some amazing times for an U15 athlete. He ran a PB, of 2:05.9, on Wednesday night at the NEGP which sees him well up the UK rankings a year young in the age group.

In the same meeting Dan’s brother Tom went head to head with Lea Stephenson in the 400m. Lea came out on top with a run of 50.4 secs but Tom (U17) recorded a PB of 51.4.

Paddy Lally was one of only two runners to take on the 2000m Steeple Chase. It was Paddy’s first attempt at racing the Steeple Chase and he looked strong. He is hoping to run the 1500m at the County Championships.

There were a total of 16 athletes from Tynedale at the NEGP.

Hannah and Charlie Pinkney

Hannah, and Mum Charlie, had outstanding races representing GB in the European Age Group Triathlon Championships. Hannah was overheard to say that the running training she has been putting in proved invaluable in the closing stages of the race. Hannah won Silver and Charlie Bronze in their respective age groups.

County Championships

Good luck to all the Minors, Junior, Inter and Senior Athletes competing in the County Championships this month.
