Huge congratulations to fellow harrier Andrew Turnbull on running his first ultramarathon. He ran The Wall ultra on 23rd June; the wall being Hadrians Wall of course. This event is organised by Rat Race Events and begins at Carlisle Castle and finishes at Gateshead Millennium Bridge; 65 miles from start to finish.
The Wall is devised to be achievable and attractive to runners and fit walkers alike. There are three run categories depending on how you wish to do it; walkers or runners who wish to camp overnight, runners do it as part of a relay team or like Andrew, runners who start and don’t stop until they get to Gateshead.
Andrew did very well for a very long first ultra by completing the course in 15 hours 22 minutes which made him 93rd out of about 250 runners who chose to do it as one continuous run. Well done Andrew!
