Summer relay 2013

This year’s club relay is on Saturday 7th September and is a route on a theme of ‘Tees to Tyne’

Mini Bus Transport leaves at 6:00am from Wentworth Centre for the start at Middleton.

This is a social run, not a race! Everyone is welcome, including friends and family of club members. This year’s route is nearly all easy running along good paths and trails. Most legs are around 4 miles, with opportunities to drop in or out as you please, cycle sections, or even catch a steam train! We really do want as many people as possible to take part. You can run just one leg or as many as you want. There is no limit to how many people can do one leg, but we try and match people into groups of a similar speed.
There will be a minibus following the route to drop runners off at start points if required and carry any bags, spare clothes etc.

Route summary:

  • Pennine Way from Middleton-in-Teesdale to Cow Green reservoir
  • Link path to B6277 and then pick up South Tyne Trail
  • South Tyne Trail to Plenmeller, near Haltwhistle.
  • Follow footpaths and quiet roads along Tyne valley via Haydon Bridge and Fourstones to Tyne Green, Hexham
  • Total distance approx 58 miles
