Tynedale Harriers turned out full teams in both the men’s Senior and Vet categories at this weekend’s Sherman cup cross-country race. This non-handicapped race combines the scores from across the age-groups to give a club’s final position.
Ben Heathcote was first to finish for the club, in 46thoverall in the men’s field, and 35th senior. In the seniors’ category, he was joined by Will Lloyd, Lewis Balfour and Paul Edwin.
Andy Green was first Tynedale vet in 72nd overall, in a large men’s field. Paul Hutchinson and Bernard Kivlehan completed the vet team.
Unfortunately for Tynedale, only a handful of juniors competed, giving the club little chance of finishing high up the rankings in the final scoring. Joe Green ran in the U17’s race, finishing in 19th. In the U15 boys’ race, Charlie Daley had a very strong run to finish 3rd, with Marcus Laws in 28th. Finally, Lewis Davison finished in 25th in the U13 boys’ race.
In the women’s competition, the Davison Shield, KirstieAnderson relished the chance to run in the non-handicapped race, and race Olympian Laura Weightman! Unsurprisingly, Weightman won the women’s race, with Anderson having a great race to finish 8th vet, and 17thoverall. Kate Salthouse was 6th in the U15 girls’ race, and Poppy Watson finished in 46th place in the U13 girls’ race
