NEYDL 20th April 2014, Wentworth Leisure Centre, Hexham

And so we are off, the Junior Track and Field season has started with a massive BANG.

On Sunday we hosted the first of four NEYDL Track and Field meetings.  Newly promoted to Division One our Junior athletes knew it was going to be a tough season ahead but they certainly didn’t let it get the better of them.

Our team finished in a highly respectable 2nd place behind Blaydon and ahead of  New Marske in 3rd, Morpeth in 4th, Durham in 5th and Houghton in 6th. This win included some outstanding individual performances with League Records, Personal Bests and Season Bests for many if not all of our athletes.

We were strong right across the events and age groups in the Field events and on the Track. The Tynedale coaches were all very impressed with the athletes performances.

We had event wins from our:-

The relay teams rounded off the day with wins for the U13 girls, U15 girls and our U13 boys.  The U15 Girls 4 x 100m relay was a particular high light. With three out of the four team members having just moved up to the U15 age category they could easily have been outclassed on the day but far from it they looked strong, powerful and very, very fast.

Our team was made up of Louise Smith, Chloe Sayer, Catherine Little, Keely French, Freya Barr, Sarah Jackson, Victoria Connelly, Scarlett Dodwell, Lucy Cowell, Heather McDonald, Annie Anderson, Isobel Maxwell Gray, Lia Wilson, Rosina McLean, Phoebe Speed, Luka Von Weiler, Ale Lea, Ellen Ricketts, Bella Chicken, Mhairi Shearer, Eleanor Colmor, Imogen Bell, Ellie Franks, Elise Geddes, Ben Dykins, Harley Towart, Charles Downs, Samborne Bush, Max Pearson, Ed McLean, Joe Anderson, Alex Cowell, Bryn Mordey, Jamie Adams, Patrick McLoughlin, Jaycee Shotton, Dom Kilsby, Robbie Hewitt, Bradley Towart-Adams, Callum Gilholm, Daniel Emmerson, Ava Taperall, Courtney Heslop.

We got some positive feedback from Officials, Athletes and Spectators. Amongst the comments were how professional the Wentworth Staff are, how many adult helpers we were able to provide (too many!), how smoothly the event ran and how well Paul Tait carried out his announcing duties with a faltering tannoy system.

Well Done Tynedale Juniors!!
