A small number of Tynedale Harriers made the trip south to Hartlepool for the North Eastern Counties (NECAA) Cross Country Championships on Saturday 8th September. The conditions were cold and the going very heavy. Racing kicked off with the U13 Boys. Tynedale were represented by Max Pearson and Christopher Jackson. The race was extremely close with Max taking the win by one second from Middlesbrough Mandale runner Josh Allen. Christopher finished in a highly commendable 8th place. Next up was Fergus Robinson in the U15’s race. Fergus had a great run and finished in 4th place. In the U17’s race Jonny Currie and Ally Maxwell-Gray were the Tynedale contingent. Both had excellent runs, Jonny finishing 8th andAlly Maxwell-Gray 23rd. Max gains automatic selection to the Inter-Counties Championships, representing NECAA, on the 9th March in Birmingham. The other boys await notification to see if they have been selected for the NECAA team and with such high placings their chances are good. Kirstie Anderson and Phil Jameson were the only Tynedale Harriers to brave the muddy conditions in the Seniors races, Kirstie finishing 16th in the womens race and Phil 126th in the mens field of 350 runners.
