Cream of NE runners turnout for Tynedale 10k

Another successful event – with 578 running on the night. The race was won by Ian Hudspith of Morpeth in 30.23, with second place Mark Hood of Sunderland Strollers just 12 seconds behind.  There were some real quality runners at the front end, so much so that last year’s winner, Steve Cairns of Tyne Bridge, had to settle for 8th, despite improving on his time. The womens’ race was won by Alyson Dixon of Sunderland Strollers in a superb time of 33.40 and an impressive 10th overall.

The George Ogle Memorial Mile was one by Sparrow Morley of Tyne Bridge in 4min 16s, the first women was, not surprisingly given her substantial lead at the end, Alyson Dixon in 4.50.

Huge thanks to all who helped – the Race Committee (Kim, Hugh, Paul, Peter and Phil) for doing all the organisation, Hugh and Steph for handling the late entries and doing the results, all the officials, marshalls & the pie-wielding kitchen crew.
