Bedewell Park, Jarrow
31st March 2015
There was a lot of pre-match hype regarding this fixture. There was talk of flooding, mud, ice and possible snow. I think it’s fair to say it didn’t disappoint the more hardy of our Cross Country runners. There was an ever increasing supply of mud, a bit of sleety rain, a bit of bitterly cold wind and yet still our Junior athletes continued to shine.
In the U11 races Ava Taperell won the girls race. Rebecca Green, also in the girl’s race, and Nathaniel Henderson, Harry Courtney and Blake English in the boy’s race put in confident and determined performances.
In the U13 Boys new member Toby Mould finished in 16th place from the slow pack with Charles Downs 24th, Aidan Pinkney 36th and Gabriel Morley 51st from the fast pack. The team finished in 6th place. Well done Toby, see you at the next race.
Annie Anderson was the fastest Tynedale finisher in the U13 Girls in 16th place closely followed by Keeley French in 18th place, Freya Barr 23rd, Jasmine Couchman 35th, Olivia Stewart 38th and Roisin Lally 53rd all from the fast pack. Grace Courtney had a great run from the slow pack. Annie was 7th overall and Keeley 13th.
The U15 Boys continue to dominate their age category. They won the team event by a huge margin, maintaining their unbeaten record for the season so far. Max Pearson finished first from the fast pack. It’s the strength in numbers that is proving to be the winning combination. Samborne Bush had a great run from the slow pack to finish 3rd, followed by Cameron Grey 4th and Patrick Lally 14th. Running from the fast pack Christopher Jackson finished in 10th place, Daniel Howells 13th and Daniel Emerson 38th. Christopher was 6th overall and Daniel Howells 9th.
The U15 girls had some new faces running for Tynedale alongside the more experienced athletes. Mhairi Shearer 11th, Briony Lucas 12th, Mary Mappleback 36th, Sophie Hayter 37th and Georgia Moore 43rd all ran from the slow pack. From the fast pack Bella Chicken and Ellie Bluck were 18th and 19th respectively. The team finished in 2nd place. Well done to the new runners, we hope to see you back for more mud! Bella and Ellie were 9th and 10th overall.
Only Jaycee Shotton turned out for the U17 Boys. Jaycee finished 13th from the fast pack and 10th overall.
The U17 girls was a little disrupted this time around with the fast pack taking a shorter route than the slow pack. Hannah Pinkney was undeterred by this and, as usual, finished strongly.
