Angus Tait Memorial Hexhamshire Hobble 2011

A great turnout of 36 Tynedale Harriers braved the wintery weather for this popular local fell race and the second counter in the club grand prix. Richard Parker, winner of last season’s grand prix, continues to look invincible, as first Tynedale home in 5th place overall and 2nd veteran. Paul Gaines was just over 5 minutes behind in 11th place and Steve Hill was the third Tynedale finisher in 18th. Beth Gregory-Smith was first Tynedale female and 2nd woman overall – a great result. Rachel Chinnery wasn’t far behind and 2nd veteran woman overall. Kim Bluck was third Tynedale home. A Special mention to David Wright who completed yet another Hobble – I think he’s only missed one in the events entire history.

A big thank you to Allen Valley Striders for once again organising this great race. Efficient, friendly registration, marshalls very cheerful despite spending time out in dreadful conditions and a superb array of cakes and biccies at the end. I hope it didn’t take too long to clean the sports hall afterwards!

Some stunning photos from Balazs on Flickr. It must have been a lot colder standing around taking photos than running!
