A good day on the fells

Tynedale had a Vet 40 team in the British Hill and Fell Relay Championships on the 19th October, at Middleton near Kirkby Lonsdale. The team of Neil Cassidy, Mike Broadhurst, Phil Vincent, Paul Gaines, Andy Green and Tim Wylie came 60th overall out of 217 teams from all the major fell running clubs in the UK. We were 17th Vets team and first north east team! It was a great day out in the very runnable Howgills. The average age of our runners was 50 so there is plenty of opportunity for other, younger members to force their way in (male and female). It must be good for triathlon training as Jonny Brownlee was running for Bingley. We had our own triathlon star Sean Wylie running in the Ian Hodgson Relays at the beginning of October and he enjoyed the experience. The local fell running scene in Northumberland and Durham has races throughout the year – try the Hexhamshire Hobble on 7th December, where there is always a good presence from Tynedale and the other north east clubs.
