There is an encouragement to compete within the club as we believe that the preparation and act of competing is good for youngsters. However we are also aware that some juniors just want to keep fit and to enjoy an activity with their friends. Such participation will also be nurtured and supported.
All levels of ability are welcomed and training programmes are carefully designed to ensure that all young people have an enjoyable but testing experience. Any junior member will be expected to follow the instructions of their coach and will be encouraged to attain the highest level of fitness possible. They will also be encouraged to engage in a wide range of activities in order to find out what they enjoy and what their best event might be.
Junior training is held each Tuesday between 6 and 7 p.m. from the track at Wentworth Leisure Centre, Hexham. For selected junior athletes supplementary training sessions are also held on a Thursday between 6 and 7 p.m.
The final Young Athletes League fixture of the season is on Sunday 20th July in Barnsley. Please see the coaches for details.
